Vlanka Catalan is a designer and photographer. After serving in the military, she received both her Bachelor of Science and Master in Architecture at Washington State University where she was awarded the AIA Certificate of Merit. Before working at Miller Hull, she worked for Workshop AD and Paul Hirzel Architect.

Vlanka is interested in the relationship between architectural representation and perception which she continues to explore in her work and research. In partnership with Sarah Chan, she is the recipient of the 2019 Bob Hull Research Grant for Constructing Media.

Sarah Chan is a designer based in Seattle, where she works at The Miller Hull Partnership. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Design from the University of California, Davis. 

In her work, Sarah explores visual narratives through both graphic design and architecture lenses, merging the two in her work and research. With her colleague, Vlanka Catalan, she is the recipient of the 2019 Bob Hull Research Grant for Constructing Media.
