Ilana Zweschi

ad·jec·tive /ˈajəktiv/
a word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically related to a noun to modify or describe it.

Adjectives help us tell a story. They translate our experiences into text.

As we were transcribing this interview, we were concerned that, by just reading this, others would not experience the same conversation as us. During our interview, we were referencing her paintings, distracted by the sounds of the metal shop below, experiencing the smell of oil paint drying and so much more that can't be captured in a transcript.

By stripping our conversation of adjectives, it allows the text to become more accessible to a wider audience. The text is less about crafting a specific experience; rather it's documenting an artist's process.
